Lela R. White, 1929-2003, Clarksburg
Lela Ruth White, 74, of Clarksburg, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City.
She was born Oct. 24, 1929, in Holts Summit, a daughter of Herman and Mary Bell Branch Barnes. On June 20, 1972, in Sedalia, she was married to Manley Joseph White, who survives of the home.
Mrs. White lived in Clarksburg since 1984. She was a member of Clarksburg Baptist Church. She enjoyed collecting Indian memorabilia, fishing, camping, gardening and painting.
Also surviving are six sons, James Meyer, of Portland, Roger Meyer and Carl Meyer, both of Oklahoma, James White and Rick Meyer, both of Clarksburg, Marvin White, of Fulton; five daughters, Rhonda McMillin, of Holden, Sandy Keniston, of Mexico, Mo., Patricia Meadows, of Abilene, Texas, Janet Uplinger, of Clarksburg, Sandra Jo, of Camdenton; three brothers, Robert Barnes, Richard Barnes, Roll Barnes, all of Fulton; three sisters, Jean Brown and Dorothy Goucher, both of Yucitan, Lucille Malone, of Columbia; 28 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother, a sister and three sons, Michael Meyer, Jerry Meyer and Freddie Meyer.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Meisenheimer Funeral Home in Tipton with the Rev. Leroy Moon officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Burgher, Lyle Gilbert, Bob Stonner, Jimmy Rosenberg, Virgil Uplinger Jr. and Nathan Dotson. Honorary pallbearers will be Dewey Yarnell, B. J. Purnell, Virgil Uplinger Sr. and Jack Purnell Sr. Burial will be in Hickman Cemetery.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association.
